Conservation agriculture
A practical training series on better agricultural practice: ridging, spacing, mulching and compost. Farmers opened the furrows themselves on the demonstration plot rather than watching someone else do it.
The series runs across one full season. Groups meet at the demonstration plot at planting, twice during weeding, and again at harvest, so the plot itself carries most of the teaching.
Half of the demonstration plot is farmed the way most of the group already farms. The other half uses the practices we are teaching. Nobody has to take our word for the difference.
Every participant works. They mark lines, open furrows, place compost and lay mulch. The session ends when the plot is done, not when the time is up.
Groups that finish the season are invited to send two members to trainer training, so the sector keeps a trainer of its own.
